Curriculum
Our curriculum is rooted in the values of rural family medicine—building meaningful relationships with patients, communities, and care teams while developing broad clinical skills. Through longitudinal experiences, community engagement, and diverse clinical settings, residents gain the knowledge, confidence, and adaptability needed to provide high-quality care and improve the health of rural communities.

Family medicine outpatient experience managing your own panel from day one.

3-month long blended blocks of inpatient medicine combined with other disciplines stretched over longer periods allowing you to see more cases in each discipline longitudinally.

Larger community hospital and away rotations for rigorous exposure to inpatient pediatrics, critical care medicine, and newborn nursery.

Rural selective rotation (PGY2) to experience a different rural community working closely with an experienced community physician, assessing regional assets in an under resourced area, and learning strategies to complement those assets for the health of the community

Two elective rotations in both the 2nd and 3rd years to allow you to build your unique skillset and knowledge base

Didactic curriculum throughout including traditional medical topics/skills/procedures, as well as health systems management, community involvement, advocacy, teaching, and leadership.
